Saturday, June 20th –Sunday, June 21st, 2015 Volunteer registration begins Wednesday, April 1st 2015 Civic Center Park, E. Broadway Ave. & Colfax Ave. Denver, CO 80202 Denver PrideFest celebrates and promotes the heritage and culture of the LGBT and allied community in Colorado. There are numerous volunteer opportunities available at the festival. Denver Comic Con Saturday, May 23rd-Monday, May 25th (Registration begins Thursday, January 15th, 2015) Location: The Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street, Denver, CO 80202, Volunteers are needed to help with set up, break down, line management, giving directions, panels, activities for kids and many other tasks. Musical Talent Needed Dates are Flexible Sloan’s Lake Rehabilitation Center, 1690 Meade Denver, CO 80204 Musicians are needed to share approximately 30 min of music with residents at lunch or dinnertime. All types of musicians are welcome to register. Five Points Jazz Festival Saturday, May 16th, 2015 Five Points, 27th and Welton Street, Denver, CO 80205 The Five Points Jazz Festival celebrates the history of Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. Volunteers are needed for various positions throughout the festival. Walk to Cure Arthritis Sunday, May 17th, 2015 Washington Park, Mississippi & Franklin, Denver, CO 80209 The Arthritis Foundation is seeking volunteers to assist with their annual walk. This event is to raise money to drive arthritis research, education, and life improvement programs. Mock Interviews Thursday, May 28th 2015 West Generation Academy, 951 Elati St, Denver, CO 80204 Give high school students an opportunity to experience a real life interview situation and help them prepare for questions and the entire interview process. "FREE" DAYS FOR LOCAL EVENTSVisit the Denver Museum of Nature & Science for free on January 5,January 25, March 2, April 12 (Earth Day), April 25 (Día del Niño), May 31, June 29, July 26, August 17, September 27, October 19 and November 9. On free day, visitors get free admission to the museum, but there is still a fee for IMAX films, Planetarium shows, and temporary exhibitions.
The Denver Art Museum offers free general admission on the first Saturday of each month -- Jan. 3, Feb. 7, March 7, April 4, April 26 (Dia del Nino/Day of the Child), May 2, June 6, July 11 (because the museum will be closed on July 4), August 1, Sept. 5, September 12 (Friendship Powwow), October 3, November 7 and December 5. Visit the Denver Zoo for free in 2015 on January 11, January 12,January 22, February 6, February 7, February 19, November 2, November 13 and November 19. The Children's Museum of Denver offers free admission to everyone on the first Tuesday of each month from 4 to 8 p.m. thanks to Target. The Museum also offers free admission to seniors on the first Friday of every month. The Molly Brown Museum will free museum admission for residents of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson Counties on January 24, April 15, September 1 and November 11. See the gardens at the Denver Botanic Gardens for free on January 19, February 16, March 22, April 22, July 21, August 31, September 9, November 14 and November 14. See the gardens at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield onJanuary 6, February 3, March 3, April 7, June 2, July 7, August 4 and November 3. On free days at Chatfield, the Butterfly exhibit will be open, but there will be an extra fee to visit that exhibit. Hudson Gardens now offers free admission to its gardens every day. There is a fee for special events and concerts. Four Mile Historic Park will offer free general admission on the first Friday of each month, according to the Science and Cultural Facilities District's website, but please check with the park before you go. The Colorado Railroad Museum will offer free admission on Jan. 3, March 7 and May 2 in 2015. Note, on free days, the free offer is for admission only. Optional rides on the Galloping Goose are available for purchase on SCFD dates for $4 for adults and $2 for children. The Clyfford Still Museum, next to the Denver Art Museum, is free on the last Friday of most months from January to October 201. The dates are January 30, February 27, March 27, April 24, May 29, June 26, July 31, August 28, September 25 and October 30. The Denver Firefighter Museum has not yet announced free admission days for 2015. The free days are funded, in part, by the citizens of the metro area via the Science and Cultural Facilities District's 0.1% sales and use tax. Other free admission days are sponsored by Target. While the Butterfly Pavilion doesn't offer free admission days, it does off $5 admission days. It has not yet released its 2015 dates, but it does have a $2 off coupon on its website. If you have a Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit card or debit card, you can visit museums across the country for free on the first full weekend of the month.
